My Favorite Tarot Card

As someone who reads tarot cards on a daily basis, you may wonder if I have a favorite card - and I do! My favorite card is The Strength card (in most decks). Part of my reason for this is simply that I am a Leo and there is a lion on the card. As Leo is my sun sign, though, The Strength card also happens to be my corresponding sun sign or horoscope card as well.
There are other cards that are personal to me, like The Lovers Card which is my personality and soul card, or its inverse, The Devil, which is my hidden factor card. There are plenty of other card correspondences that I can call my own, but my affinity for The Strength card started long before I knew any of this.
Who wouldn’t like a card that means strength? When you dig a little deeper, though, you realize that the strength inherent in this card is a quiet strength. It is about being calm and patient, traits that I value and am constantly practicing. The woman in the traditional Rider deck is also exhibiting her control and will power and I would be lying if I didn’t say that I liked having control over just about everything! But even these traits are quiet exhibits of strength, showing real and earned power. As a woman in our society, it’s much easier to be strong in these steady ways than with one’s fists. Or at least, for me it is.
The woman in this card manages to tame the lion, a stand in for passion and desire. She’s not getting rid of passion and desire, but rather soothing them to not be at the forefront all the time. She is pure (as symbolized by her robe), she is earthy (she wears flowers in her hair) and her strength, her wisdom, and her potential are infinite (that’s why there is an infinity symbol above her head.)
I may not see myself as the woman in this card, but I’d like to be fearless like her - to have the courage to gently calm the wild beast rather than run in the opposite direction, screaming.
